Writing For Success Program

Through a valuable collaboration with the Andalusia Institute at Georgia College & State University, CREATE students have the opportunity to engage in creative writing classes. Our dedicated mentors are writers who are deeply passionate about inspiring young individuals to discover and express their unique voices. These classes encompass a wide range of creative writing elements, including poetry, prose, revision techniques, and the art of performing your work.

In addition, our program offers podcasting classes where students receive hands-on training in the use of podcasting equipment. Our mentors assist students in mastering this technology, providing guidance on episode preparation and recording techniques to ensure a fulfilling podcasting experience.

Financial Literacy Program

CREATE’s financial literacy program is an afterschool program dedicated to students in middle and high school.  Our curriculum is composed of two sets of courses.

1.       JUNIOR INVESTMENT PROGRAM:

Ø  This is a stock market game that uses an online simulation of the global capital markets.  It engages students grades 4-12 in economics, investing, and personal finance and prepares students for financially independent futures.

Ø  The objective of the SMG program is to introduce its participants to the fundamentals of investing - this includes their parents. SMG curriculum provides users technical guides, related publications, links, and other resources to help get all comfortable using the SMG with your child.

Ø  The program takes approximately four months to complete. A different cohort of students can start either in the fall or spring. The program begins in September and ends in December and then again in January and ends in April. Upon successful completion, each student receives a check for $250.00 to start their own savings account.

2.       SAVINGS ACCOUNT PROGRAM:

Ø  The savings account program is a financial education program that teaches youth and their parents in various stages of life about the basics of responsible money. Specifically, students are learning how to create a budget, the importance of savings, maintaining good credit, paying their bills on time, tips on spending wisely, and strategies to practice online safety, to name a few. A different cohort of students can start either in the fall or spring. The program begins in September and ends in December and then again in January and ends in April.  Upon completion, students receive a $200 check to start their very own savings account.
